The Little Door

I had the utmost honor of enjoying a complimentary tasting at The Little Door in LA to try out their new long awaited cocktail menu, 15 years in the making! I sat down with an eclectic group of people including, a writer from Vanity  Fair Magazine, a pizza blogger, a food and travel blogger and the owner of MHA Media which made this dinner that much more special. I spent the beginning of the dinner receiving pizza advice from the lovely Kelly Bone(who also works for The Little Door) while enjoying my Bourbon Bellini. As dinner went on we listened to the amazing stories of Marilyn Heston, the owner of MHA Media, and how she put Angelina Jolie in contact with John Galliano but she ended up working with Versace instead, how her second client was Jimmy Choo and her crazy new diet called Dukan, all while sipping on Moscow Mules. Towards the end of the dinner Jill and I shared stories about China and she told me about some yummy eats around town. We ended the meal with the ever so delicious and authentic Moroccan Mint Tea.

Now to the best part…..THE FOOD. It was so exquisite, light with beautiful harmonious flavors concocted by the ever so talented Chef Nicolas T. Peter. We had the opportunity to meet him in the beginning of the night and he took us through the whole tasting, plate by plate. I would have to say my favorite dish (which was so hard to narrow down, and even after I decided this I still don’t think I can call it my absolute favorite because the others were so scrumptious) was the Dungeness Crab with Avocado and Peach. It was the loveliest blend of flavors that you would have never thought of, and then asked yourself “why didn’t I think of that?” My second favorite would be the Beet Salad with crusted goat cheese and herbs. Divine. My third favorite would be the sesame crusted sea scallop…..Y.U.M. My favorite cocktail? Probably the Bourbon Bellini but you know how much I love my Moscow Mules so that one was a close second. The Basil Margarita was so refreshing and in no way sugary and syrupy making it third on my list. Seriously, one of the best margs I have ever had.

The night was so beautiful and I felt so honored and lucky to have been asked to be a part of it. I mean, how often do you get to partake in a free tasting with a table full of amazing, interesting people? Thanks to the ever so sweet Mia for sending over the invite, I will for sure be back to The Little Door for a fabulous dinner and The Little Next Door for brunch!
