My BB Bump Style

Wow, time really got away from me, I didn’t realize that I haven’t posted anything since my wedding! After the wedding, I dived into baby stuff and haven’t looked back. I’ve spent the last 2 1/2 months preparing for this little guys arrival by researching all the products I need, reading lots of books, attending classes, and trying to wrap up my work before I go on my leave. I wish I had more outfits to share but I’ve been pretty cooped up in my apartment doing all of these things so I don’t have as many #OOTD’s as I would have liked, but at least I have a few right?

It’s actually been somewhat tough for me to style myself pregnant and this was the part I was the least worried about when I found out the big news. My life is fashion so I figured, “this is going to be cake right?” No. Well, not for me at least. In my 7th month I finally figured out the problem; Everything in my closet is baggy. I don’t have any basics like tight tank tops or spaghetti straps, I have a few bodycon dresses but mostly big baggy dresses and this is a problem when your bump doesn’t actually POP until the end, which is what usually happens with your first. I really started showing in my 7th month so at that point I could wear anything in my closet and look cute because you could actually tell I was pregnant but before that, I struggled. Yes, I could have worn baggy clothes the entire time and not really shown off my bump but that was one of the things I was really looking forward to when I actually became pregnant. Another thing I struggled with is everything on trend right now and everything I want to wear is high waisted and that does not work with a bump. Aside from the fact that it doesn’t fit most of the time when it does, it just doesn’t look the same. It cuts you off at a weird place and makes your torso look so short. So, I was stuck between baggy clothes that covered up my cute lil bump and clothes that didn’t work with a bump. As you can see above I figured out ways to maneuver around it and now I’m having a blast with it.  A huge piece of advice for you new moms-to-be or you experienced moms that just want a refresher in your style is to add things like cute accessories and good shoes to your look.

A huge piece of advice for you new moms-to-be or you experienced moms that just want a refresher in your style is to add things like cute accessories and good shoes to your look.  When you’re pregnant, you are tired and you don’t have energy (for the most part), so dressing yourself can be a big task but it doesn’ t have to be. You can wear the same bodycon dress every day but if you switch up your accessories and shoes, it’s a different look every time. I also feel like this is an area where a lot of women fall short and it really can amp up your look. If you’re pregnant during the colder months, even better because you can switch out your jackets like your underwear and have a new outfit all the time.

I’ve put together a list of essentials that I’ve been wearing non-stop and that I would maybe have on hand the next round for those of you that want to make sure you’re keeping your style game up the full 9 months.

Pieces to have in your closet for your growing bump:

Body suits (spandex + on trend!)

Bodycon dresses and skirts (so easy, so comfy)

Tight, longer tops/shirts.

SHORT baggy/flowy dresses  (Maxi’s just make you look like a tent. If you go shorter you have the freedom of the loose clothing without making you look so big.)

Low heels, sneakers or cute sandals (flip flops are SO comfortable but they just bring your outfit down a notch.)

Accessories! (bandanas, scarves, visors, hats, jewelry all step up your outfit. When you’re too tired to throw anything on, put a black bodycon dress on with any of these accessories and you’ll be good to go.)

Also, I did a fun little interview with Clever LA on my maternity fashion. Check it out HERE!
